Why Regular Lifting Equipment Inspection Is Important?

A number of things can go wrong when working with heavy lifting equipment. Mechanical failures, equipment deterioration, human error and accidents can create an unsafe operating environment. Along with providing requisite training sessions for workers, regular equipment inspections can help prevent a number of problems over time. If you own and operate machineries like cranes, forklifts and others, we can help:

Check for damage

If a part of your machinery is broken or rusted, it can pose a serious danger to workers operating the equipment. Our team will identify the damage and ensure that all components are functional and in optimal working condition. We will advise you on the best fix and solution if anything needs repair.

Timely replacement of worn-out materials

Besides finding current problems, our inspections can prevent future problems before they happen. We will identify components that show signs of wear and tear and need to be replaced before they break down. By avoiding unexpected downtime due to malfunctioning equipment, we can help save you time and money in the long run and protect your workers from avoidable accidents.

Update your system to meet the requirements

The industrial standards could be amended. We can help you stay updated on the latest technologies to meet industry standards and regulations.

How Often Is inspection Required

We recommend thorough equipment inspections every 6 months for any equipment and accessories used to lift people or protective equipment like harnesses and lanyards and those that attach loads to machinery like slings and shackles. For all other lifting equipment used to lift and lower loads, such as forklift trucks or vehicle lifts, attachments used to anchor, fix or support the equipment, we advise inspections every 12 months at least. Depending on the age and condition of the machinery, more frequent services could be advised to help identify issues before they become serious.
A lifting equipment inspection should also be carried out:

  • Before the first use, unless it has a declaration of conformity, not more than 12 months.
  • After assembly, if it was assembled on site.
  • After being out of use for a long time, major damage and other circumstances.
  • After any changes in how it is used, that could affect its integrity.

Along with regular and thorough examinations, the personnel using the lifting equipment must also carry out routine checks before use. Contact us to book an appointment or to discuss your concerns with our experienced team.
